Emmy Squared, a Detroit-style pizza and burger joint, is going to open at 124 King St. in Old Town Alexandria. The restaurant co-owner Howard Greenstone confirmed this on Thursday. He hopes to open in the spring or summer 2021, filling the 3,378-square-foot space with roughly 52 seats at tables and another 43 at the bar.
According to wtop.com, “Pizzeria Paradiso officially shuttered earlier this month after roughly a decade. Greenstone, based in Nashville, Tennessee, said he has a good relationship with building owner Asana Partners LLC, and when he got word the space had opened up he jumped at the opportunity to land a second-generation pizza operation.”
As per wtop.com, “Emmy Squared features a square Detroit-style pizza, which Greenstone described as “not deep dish, but thicker and lighter.” Its burger, meanwhile, has earned praise of its own. The company behind it, Pizza Loves Emily, has one operation in D.C.’s Shaw neighborhood already, in addition to restaurants in Nashville, New York and Philadelphia.”
